Investments and Cash Reserves
The investment portfolio closed the year at $1.43 billion. This accounted for 42% of total assets.
Table 5 shows that 34% of the portfolio was held at the Bank of Jamaica on the National
Debt Exchange. A further 19% was held at the Credit Union Fund Management Company. Most
of this included short term cash reserves that were adequate to meet the day-to-day cash
flow requirements of our Credit Union. Investments placed through other financial institutions
were all secured by Government of Jamaica securities.
Savings
A total of $224 million was added to the savings portfolio during the year. This resulted in an
