The Manchester Co-operative Credit Union (1977) Limited has tremendous compassion for the citizens of Manchester. As such the company has embarked on a project with the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League dubbed Soup n Soup. The Manchester Infirmary patients have benefitted from this project thus far. Through the desire to remind them that they are truly loved, cherished and remembered; the Credit Union hosted these persons to a pre-easter treat on April 15, 2011. The treat involved all patients who received soup, bun and cheese and a personal bath soap.
As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure our products remain relevant, a rebranding exercise was carried out on the following savings products:
All members are being reminded that their continued membership in the Credit Union now requires a minimum balance of Two Thousand Dollars (J$2,000) in Permanent Shares. This represents their ownership of, or equity in the Credit Union and is in accordance with a rule that was approved at the 33rd Annual General Meeting; to enable our Credit Union to comply with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
International Credit Union Week (ICU Week) 2009
International Credit Union Week (ICU Week 2009) was celebrated from October 11- 17, under the theme
The dawn of another New Year reminds us of how quickly one year succeeds another. The year 2010 has left memories that will not be easily forgotten. Regrettably, some of these are painful memories of the loss of loved ones or other personal or communal traumas. This mixture of pain and happiness is the stuff that we experience as human beings. Nevertheless, we have the fortitude to withstand great challenges and rise above difficult situations.
For this New Year, I invite us to renew our commitment- to our family, to the Credit Union, and to the community and, by extension the country. Most of the challenges that we experience have roots in dysfunctions within families. We, therefore, implore all our members to give the requisite attention, unconditional support and care to family. A stable family lends for a stable society.

recently donated $150,000 to the Closed to Crime Initiative spearheaded by the
Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
The Credit Union sees the importance of such an initiative in helping to curb
crime in the parish of Manchester.
The Closed to Crime Initiative was spawned out of the concern of Chamber
members who perceived a problem with the rising crime rate throughout the
parish.
