The target group for the competition consisted of students from the Primary & Junior High and All Age Schools in Manchester, falling in the under 15 age category. The competition was officially launched on April 15, 2005 at Brooks Park in Mandeville. Practice balls were provided for all the schools, in addition to a set of bibs, T-shirts and a sum of money to help defray transportation cost.

On the day of the launch, an opening ceremony was held and all participating schools played their first match of the competition. The competition is expected to run until June 10, 2005 at which time the finals will be played and a presentation ceremony held.

Prizes

1.      The winning school will receive the Manchester Co-operative Credit Union Trophy, a total of ten gold medals for the team members and a cash prize of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) for the school.

2.      The second place team will receive Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) in cash for their school while the team members will receive silver medals totaling ten.

3.      For the third place team, a total of ten bronze medals will be provided for the players that make up the team.

Sectional prizes will also be awarded to players judged to be top defender, top shooter, top center and for the most valuable player. A team prize will be awarded to the team recognized as being the most disciplined.
