Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League National Debating Challenge
Holmwood Technical High are National Debating Champions
Having won the Manchester Co-op Credit Union’s Debating Competition, Holmwood Technical High School, went on to represent the parish of Manchester in the regional finals of the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League’s debating Challenge. This was held on Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Mandeville Hotel. Five schools participated, each representing their Parish Credit Union. These schools were: Titchfield High (Portland Co-op.), Lacovia High (St. Elizabeth Co-op.), Godfrey Stewart High (Westmoreland Co-op.), Old Harbour High (St. Catherine Co-op.) and Holmwood Technical High (Manchester Co-op.).
At the end of the day’s matches, Holmwood Technical High had the highest scores of all the teams and was fast forwarded to the finals. At the finals, which took place at the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League on Friday, December 8th 2006, Holmwood Technical High battled with Lacovia High for the League’s National Debating Trophy. Holmwood Technical High celebrated a proud moment as they emerged the winners of the League’s National Debating Challenge ahead of 30 other Schools.
