The Manchester Co-operative Credit Union closed its year of celebrations with a festive Long Service Awards Banquet held at the Belair High School’s Auditorium on December 9th, 2006. The evening was a spectacular one as guests arrived in fine style.

Guests were greeted warmly by ushers and the staff of the Mazie Miller catering team. The room was beautifully decorated with the Credit Union colours and guests were thoroughly seduced by the mellow tunes that echoed from the Great Vine band.

Specially invited guests that further helped to make the event one to remember included: Mr. Christopher Samuda, President of the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League, Mr. Christopher Robinson, Country Manager, CUNA Mutual Insurance Society, Mr. Albert Smith, General Manager, National Union of Co-operative Societies, and Ms. Vanessa Porter, Senior Auditor, Department of Co-operatives & Friendly Societies. These specially invited guests brought greetings from their respective organizations. Other specially invited guests included the Guest Speaker of the evening, Mrs. Lyn Kennedy-McKenzie, Assistant Professor in the Department of History (N.C.U), Managers  of other Credit Unions and various financial institutions and Volunteers of M.C.C.U. (1977) Ltd.

Banquet peopleThe master of ceremonies, Mr. Dervan Malcolm, had guests holding tightly to their seats as they laughed vibrantly to his jokes and special imitations. Among the highlights of the evening were the staff members and volunteers, past and present, who were awarded for their long and loyal service to the Credit Union. This added to the excitement of the proceedings as there were persons who had served over 30 years. The awardees received plaques and gifts in recognition of a job well done.

As the event came to a close Mr. Desmond Grant, Director, M.C.C.U. (1977) Ltd gave a lively vote of thanks and the National Anthem was sung. Guests continued to socialize as they enjoyed further entertainment from the Great Vine band.
