Under-15 Netball Competition 2007


The finals of the Manchester Co-operative Credit Union Sponsored Netball Competition were played on June 22, 2007 at Brooks Park in Mandeville. This was the climax for the competition which was launched on May 14, 2007.

The final match was played between Mandeville Primary & Junior High and New Forrest Primary & Junior High while in the match to determine third and fourth places, Nazareth All Age defeated Harry Watch All Age. A total of thirteen schools participated in this year’s competition with forty-six games being played during the season. A presentation ceremony was held following the final game. In addition to representatives from the Credit Union, invited guests in attendance included Mr. Ian Andrews and Mr. Bruce McFarlane, Directors from the office of InSports and Mr. Oswald Bent, Principal of New Forest Primary and Junior High School. Members of the press were also in attendance to cover the event.

It was a keenly contested match played between Mandeville Primary & Junior High and New Forest Primary & Junior High. Netball CompetitionIn the end, New Forest Primary & Junior High came out victors by three (3) points (26-23) and won the Manchester Co-operative Credit Union trophy. The Champions also received $50,000.00 cash and gold medals for each team member. Second place winner, Mandeville Primary & Junior High, received $25,000.00 cash and silver medals for each team member. The third place was awarded to Nazareth All Age who had defeated Harry Watch All Age. They were the recipients of $15,000.00 cash and bronze medals for each team member. Harry Watch All Age took fourth place and was awarded $10,000.00 cash for their effort. McIntosh Memorial Primary received the Most Disciplined Team Award and was presented with a Plaque. The Most Improved Team Award was presented to Harry Watch All Age.

Shauna-Kay Wint of Mandeville Primary & Junior High was presented with the Most Valuable Player and the Best Defensive Player award went to Sharna-Kay Palmer of the same school. The Top Goal Scorer award went to Cassandra Knight of Nazareth All Age while Trishauna Hanson of McIntosh Memorial Primary received the Best Centre Court Player award.

This brought the curtains down on the Credit Union’s third successful staging of its annual Under-15 Netball Competition. Based on the response to this initiative, sports will continue to be a prominent fixture in the Credit Union’s youth involvement throughout the Parish.
